Openings for 2009

Sadly 19 Princelet Street is rarely open to the public because the building is too fragile and the charity is raising funds for urgent major repair.

Planned open days for 2009 are listed below (or join our e-friends to get email reminders and other news).

Public open days are FREE (we encourage donations).

We can arrange special visits for groups at other times, and will do our best to organise an opening if you are able to give us around four weeks notice. For more information see group visits and learning and our access policy.

'I fully support the proposals to save 19 Princelet Street as Europe's first museum of immigration.'
Ken Livingstone

'one of the capital's finest buildings'
The Observer

'Why do they have a wedding in a small place? Isn't it dark and spooky? It has a thin floor. If the people were dancing, wouldn't they fall?.'
Saira (age 9) Christchurch School, Brick Lane

We are very sorry to announce that our planned open days are cancelled. We regret causing disappointment.

Please email us on office@19princeletstreet.org.uk or telephone
020 7247 5352 to leave your contact details, if you would like to be sent information about future openings.

We open for group visits at other times, not just to coincide with public openings. In the past year these have included talks and tours for community groups; students from primary and secondary schools; university courses in anthropology, race, religion and culture amongst many others, including universities from Britain, Europe, the US and Hong Kong; as well as other groups such as young people who have committed racially motivated crimes, artists, literary appreciation courses and experts in historic buildings..
